Harvest Festival | Arts

November 12, 2012

Harvest Festival stretched way beyond the usual stage and audience festival experience. There was an entire fringe entertainment extravaganza engaging and involving anyone and everyone they could. As well as roving performers, there was an abundance of abstract and whimsical artworks around the venue.
Our first encounter with said performers was this roving women's marching band who where also actively getting people to join in and dance to their music.

Through the secret garden arches, you found more dancers, giant inflatable bubbles, mystery tents, woven human nests and many more curious things.

This Day Of The Dead shrine was one of my favourite pieces of art (I think it was art).

Le Boudoir tent was home to an array of fringe stage and music acts throughout the day. We had a quick look at one act that was definitely different haha.

It took me a while to work out why I loved this fringe aspect of the festival so much. It's because it reminded me of the scene in my favourite movie Across The Universe with Mr Kite. If you've seen the movie you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. It was like being in a different world.
