Groovin The Moo 2013

May 5, 2013

It seems like I'm at a music festival every weekend. Okay not quite, but after a 2 hour drive we finally arrived in Bendigo, the biggest town in regional Victoria, for Groovin The Moo. My blog post on Groovin The Moo 2012 was one of the first posts I did, which means I've been blogging continuously for over a year now. How time flies!
There weren't many acts on the lineup that I wanted to see that I hadn't already seen but that meant it was probably just time to discover some new music. One of the stand out performances of the day was Matt & Kim, an American electro/pop duo who are absolutely insane... but in a good way. They filled the sky with balloons and confetti whilst having dance battles between songs and walking on the audience. Amongst all of this, their music was pretty good too. I recognised one of their songs because it's on an iPhone ad or something.
We had some time to kill so we got some photo-booth photos (they were pretty shitty and we weren't ready for the camera *fail*) and checked out a DJ playing 90s music which we thought would be hilariously nostalgic. Unfortunately he only played hip-hop and we grew up listening to Britney Spears, Spice Girls and S Club 7 (to name a few). We took this opportunity to take some pics of my bling and nails.
As the sun fell, Tame Impala took to the stage and we had a good ol' dance and sing-a-long. We danced pretty hard, mainly because we were so cold and needed to get the blood pumping. After Tame Impala we swapped between Tegan and Sara and Flume because we couldn't decide between them.
As I said before, most of the bands I wanted to see I'd already seen. The one exception to this was British indie band The Kooks. They played all their hits and I belted out songs like Ooh La, Sway, Always Where I Need To Be, Junk Of The Heart and ended with Naive. They were so amazing and I definitely want to see them again.
Only one person could really top The Kooks and that was another Brit. Last time I saw Example I was by myself and festivals aren't as fun when you're by yourself (I was working at it and was on my break, which is why I was by myself). If you know me you know I'm not a huge fan on hip-hop or rap (whatever the difference is) but I make an exception when it comes to British rap. It's true, I can rap almost all of Examples songs (yeah totes gangstah. not.) and we went absolutely nuts dancing and rapping along.

Of course he played all his hits including my favourite song Stay Awake, and ended his set with mega-hit Changed The Way You Kissed Me. It's safe to say that was the highlight of my day. I could listen to that song over and over and over again and still go crazy when it comes on.

Okay enough of my yapping. Hope you enjoyed this post. I'm going to do another post on the fashion at Groovin The Moo in the coming days.
